A Study on the Preparation of Mercuric Sulfide
Abstract
Synthetically, mercuric sulfide has been obtainable by passing HZS gas through a solution of mercuric chloride or under the presence of alkali polysulfide, by reacting alkali with black mercuric sulfide which is made by mixing mercury with excess sulfur, Or it is prepared by passing HZS gas through the solution of hot mercuric salts containing glacial acetic acid, and excess ammonium thiocyanate.
The synthesis of HgS was markedly influenced by some factors, such as, specially, xeactior time, reaction temperature, existence of alkali persulfide and alkali cconcentation.
